Murmuro Privacy Policy

Murmuro is an audio-transcription app built to respect your privacy. Your recordings, imported files, and transcripts are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the Murmuro mobile app ("Murmuro", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information. It applies to the Murmuro apps for iOS and Android.

2. Your recordings and transcripts stay on your device

All of Murmuro's AI features — speech-to-text transcription, speaker labeling, and summaries — use models that run locally on your device. On newer devices, summaries may use the operating system's built-in on-device AI (Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models on iOS, Gemini Nano on Android); this processing also happens entirely on the device. This means:

• The audio you record or import, and the transcripts and summaries the app produces, are processed on your device.
• They are stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
• They are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party — and in particular, never to any third-party AI service, cloud or otherwise.
• We cannot see, access, or recover your recordings or transcripts.

3. Information we collect

Murmuro does not require an account and does not ask for personal information such as your name, email, or contacts. The information that leaves your device is limited to the two categories below.

Crash and diagnostic data, collected through Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google. This helps us find and fix crashes and stability problems. It may include:

• Crash logs and stack traces (technical details about what the app was doing when it stopped working);
• Your device model and operating-system version;
• The app version and general diagnostic information (for example, available memory at the time of a crash).

This diagnostic data does not include your audio, recordings, or transcripts, and it is not linked to your identity. Crashlytics data is handled under Google's privacy terms — see Firebase Privacy and Security and the Google Privacy Policy.

Purchase data (Murmuro Pro). If you buy a Murmuro Pro subscription or the one-time lifetime unlock, the payment itself is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. To activate Pro in the app, the store's purchase receipt is validated by RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider. This involves the store transaction data (such as the product purchased and purchase/renewal dates) and a random, app-generated identifier. It is used solely to unlock and restore your purchase, is not linked to your name or email, and involves no audio, transcripts, or other content. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

4. Microphone

Murmuro requests microphone access so you can record audio for transcription. The microphone is used only while you are recording, and the captured audio is used solely for on-device transcription. It is not streamed or sent anywhere.

5. How the app uses the internet

Murmuro connects to the internet for limited purposes: to download the speech-recognition and speaker-labeling models it needs (for example, from Hugging Face and GitHub), and to validate Pro purchases as described above. Model downloads are one-way — no audio, transcripts, or personal data is sent in these requests. The app does not send your audio, transcripts, or any personal data to any third-party AI service. Aside from the crash reporting and purchase validation described above, the app does not transmit anything.

6. Storage, retention, and deletion

Because your content lives on your device, you are in control of it:

• You can delete individual recordings and transcripts within the app at any time.
• Uninstalling the app removes all recordings, transcripts, and downloaded models from your device.
• Crash reports, if any were sent, are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) and then deleted.
• Purchase records are retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat under their own policies for as long as needed to honor your purchase (for example, to restore Pro on a new device).

7. No advertising, tracking, or data sales

Murmuro does not display ads, does not include advertising or tracking SDKs, and does not use your data to build a profile of you. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Children's privacy

Murmuro is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will address it.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Because Murmuro keeps your recordings and transcripts on your device and only receives anonymous diagnostic data, the most direct way to exercise these rights is to manage or delete your content in the app and to uninstall it. 10. Data security

Your recordings and transcripts are kept in the app's private, sandboxed storage on your device. Crash and diagnostic data is transmitted to Firebase over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app or on the app's store listing.
